💀 Character Information
Name: Crowley, Anthony J. aka Crawly, aka Serpent of Eden aka "An Angel who did not so much Fall as Saunter Vaguely Downwards"
Canon: Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
Canon Point: After Sunday (post-canon)
Age: Over 6,000 years... at least 6,020
Description: Crowley is a demon who wears a human form of a young man with black hair. He has a fondness for sunglasses that hide his yellow, snake-like eyes, and snake-skin shoes; he can do weird things with his tongue which is forked; he has wings which do not differ from angel's wings, though they are better groomed; he tends to wear suits and leather jackets.
Due to Good Omens currently being a text only medium, I have chosen to represent Crowley with Hal Ozzan
Physical changes: None
Powers: Crowley has the ability to shape shift to an extent, though dislikes doing so, as it tends to ruin his clothing (he is capable of taking on a more "traditional" demonic form); he can transmute objects such as car engines; he can operate a car without gasoline (the car is not electric or solar powered, either); and many other things. Crowley's power happens to follow his will and expectations, even without any conscious thought on his part (as shown near the end of the book when he commandeers a US Army jeep and it comes equipped with a cassette player and a selection of classical cassettes).
I imagine, in Little Hades, Crowley might have some difficulty with his powers not behaving entirely like he's used to.
Also, Crowley has wings, which he is capable of hiding when desired, and can use these to fly
History: A little summary of Crowley
There is actually no Wiki for Good Omens, both summaries give a little information, here is a cliff notes timeline:
- At some point God created angels, among them an angel that would one day fall as it hung about the wrong crowd; this angel is Crowley
- At some point God created Earth and humans; and stuck everything in a garden known as Eden, guarded by cherubims, including Aziraphale, the guard of the Eastern gate
- At some point Lucifer decided to become the Advisary and some angels fell, including the one that would become Crowley
- the angel, now known as Crawly, was sent back to earth in the form of a snake to cause some chaos; this snake's idea of chaos involved a fruit tree which may have been apples
- Crawly discusses with Aziraphale the nature of right and wrong, especially as it fits in with the Ineffable Plan of God's
- Eventually Crawly changes his name to Crowley
- Crowley stays on Earth, gains a human-shaped form, and tempts humans to sin; he discovers that humans don't need demonic temptation... they'll do evil themselves, and often times be more inventive about it then demons.
- Crowley happens to be in Spain during the fifteenth century and gets a commendation from Hell for the Spanish Inquisition; he has nothing to do with the Inquisition and tried his best to forget it
- Crowley slept through the entirety of the nineteenth century, except for a moment in 1832 when he needed the loo
- Eventually the time comes for the End of the World, and it is Crowley tasked with taking the Antichrist to a specific hospital to be swapped out
- Crowley convinces Aziraphale to join him in watching the kid that should be the Antichrist and raising him to not be the destroyer of Earth; only to find out on the child's 11th birthday that a mix up occurred
- For the rest of the book, Crowley is actively attempting to stop the Apocalypse, and eventually turns up at the site. Though, in the end it's only Adam deciding he doesn't want the world to end that stops it; Crowley, though is willing to stand up against Satan with nothing more than a tireiron
- The next day everything is mostly back to normal, including his beloved car, and Crowley takes Aziraphale out for lunch at the Ritz; this is where the book ends
After the book, Crowley continues as he had before with causing chaos here, tempting people there. Eventually, though, the world has to end, and his prediction holds true. It wasn't demons vs angels, it was demons and angels vs humans.
Hell Status: Limbo Case
What Brings Them To Hell: Crowley has been a demon for over 6,000 years... but he's a demon that actively attempted to stop the apocalypse... those kind of heroics tend to be very Heaven worthy. So, here's Crowley, a demon with a second chance at Heaven...
But, honestly, he's bored, so he's not going to want to stay in the hotel... he's too used to causing chaos...
The Pitch: An opportunistic, optimistic demon who has been on earth so long that he's gone a bit native. Crowley enjoys the finer things in life, such as a beautiful car, good wine, dinner at upscale restaurants, and sleeping. He isn't one for focused evil, but believes in little nudges from a variety of things, such as tying up the phone lines in London during the lunch hour, Welsh language television, VAT, and the M25 oribital. He believes humans will do enough evil on their own, that his nudges are just insurance, really. Crowley approaches doing evil like a clerk approaches another day at the office. And when he's off the clock, he spends quite a bit of time bothering an angel who is supposed to be his enemy, but has since become his friend (though Crowley won't be the first to admit it).
Crowley will behave in a way a demon should, but it's not really who he is as an individual, and this often leads to him doing things that are not demonic in the slightest (like saving the world). He might even be described as tsundere at times, but this isn't very correct either. Others would say, as a demon, Crowley is incapable of love, but this isn't true, he's just not capable of the vast amounts an angel is capable of.
In summary: Crowley is a demon, but not demonic. He's an asshole with a heart... though it's not really gold. He's entirely too human for a supernatural being.
Setting Fit: Crowley isn't going to be uncomfortable in Hell... I haven't decided yet which way his trail will go. So here's the two possibilities:
Hell Newbie - If Crowley does enough bad things in game, then I think he'll end up being sentenced to Hell. He'll probably decide not to do community service, simply because he'd rather be tortured for a few minutes and get it over with then have to do things for other people; he'll eventually get an apartment and either his neighbor will be Freddie Mercury... or his neighbor will be intensely in love with the music of Queen and play it at intense volumes at all hours day or night.
Heaven Transfer - If Crowley doesn't do enough bad things to tip the scales to Hell's favor, he'll be a former demon in Heaven... yeah, he'll probably say something along the lines of "Fuck this shit!" turn around and apply for a visa to go back to Hell. This path could lead to a lot of lols at Crowley's expense
